HOW TO BID
Register to Bid
To place bids on silent auction items, register online or at the event with Artsy.
To register, follow these easy steps:
- Visit artsy.net or download the Artsy app
- Create an Artsy account
- Register to bid in the Headlands 2023 Benefit Art Auction.
Bidding in the Silent Auction
All bidding for the Silent Auction (ending at 9 PM PST / 12PM EST on June 6, 2023) will be conducted digitally via Artsy. You can place your bids in person or remotely online.
You can place a maximum bid and the system will bid on your behalf based on our bidding increments below the lowest competitive price. Prices increase (up to, but not beyond, your maximum bid) as other users bid on the work. Please note that maximum bid amounts are only executed if there is a competing bidder up to that amount.
Bidding in the Live Auction
You can place your bids for the Live Auction in person, remotely via Artsy, or via proxy.
If bidding in person, live bidding will begin approximately at 7:30 PM PST on June 6, 2023. Use the Live Auction paddle number (visible on your printed Auction program) to bid in person.
If bidding remotely via Artsy, you can bid in real time. Log in to your account and bid live beginning at 7:30 PM PST.
If bidding remotely via proxy, a Headlands staff member will communicate with you in advance of the Live Auction to execute bids on your behalf. To inquire about placing a proxy bid, please contact Ann Meisinger at ameisinger@headlands.org.
Pre-bidding is available from May 19 - June 5 on Artsy.net/Headlands.
Win + Check Out
All winning bidders will receive a confirmation email and/or text at the close of the Silent Auction. Headlands Center for the Arts will reach out to all silent and live auction winners within 48 hours after the sale with next steps for completing their payment and receiving the work. All winning bids are final and purchases are non-refundable.
Artworks will be delivered to Bay Area locations within two weeks of payment via Lawrence Fine Arts at no cost. Costs for shipping and delivery outside of the Bay Area are the winning bidder’s responsibility. All winning bidders located in California will be required to pay sales tax.
A NOTE TO COLLECTORS
Headlands Center for the Arts’ Benefit Art Auction is a mission-driven fundraiser with proceeds directly supporting Headlands’ mission, programs, and artists. Headlands respectfully requests that collectors do not resell purchased auction artwork. If a collector wishes to resell auction artwork, Headlands asks that collectors offer first right of refusal to the artist and their gallery. This understanding and cooperation will contribute to the sustainability of Headlands Center for the Arts and the Bay Area arts ecosystem.
