About the Artwork

Saya Woolfalk (Headlands Artist in Residence ‘14) uses science fiction and fantasy to reimagine the world in multiple dimensions. Protest Poster (Black Lives Matter) is one in a series of editioned prints that take on the format of a protest poster. She has exhibited at museums, galleries, and alternative spaces throughout Asia, Europe, and the United States, including numerous solo exhibitions and group shows at The Studio Museum in Harlem; MoMA PS1, New York; The Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh; and the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, among many others. Woolfalk’s work is in the collections of major institutions including, among others, the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Mead Art Museum, Amherst, Massachusetts; and the Weatherspoon Art Museum, Greensboro, North Carolina. Woolfalk is the recipient of numerous honors, awards, and commissions, and she has delivered public lectures at museums and universities throughout the United States.
